This piece stands well above most other portraits of celebrities that I see in that it accurately captures Ms Watson's features and demeanor.
Too often I see portraits that miss some detail of the face, the jaw line or something, and it turns the rendition into a completely different person. Other times they give the person some expression that either says nothing or is one that person never wears.
Your capture of her features is spot on and while you could have chosen a more dynamic expression I can appreciate the subtlety of this one and easily see Ms Watson using it.
The lighting is good but the background could be improved to be less grey scale blah. The shoulders lack the crispness is desire but as a stylistic choice and for perspective I can understand it to draw me to Ms Watson's delightfully rendered eyes. The eyes are what make this piece and kudos on them.
I get hung up on your use of white though. Most prominently around the left (that is: my left) eyebrow and eye, and also at the edges of the lips.
I am not as glowing in my rating as other reviewers simply because anyone who put in the time to gain this kind of talent will most certainly improve, and I want to foster that growth.
-Fisrt time critiquing- c: Let me just say, this is IN-CRED-IBLE When I first saw it, I thought it was a photograph, when I looked closer, I was blown away! It looks like a photograph, but even more amazing! The skill displayed is amazing, you must have worked so hard on it ^^ Her entire face is defined yet perfectly arranged and blended ~ The depth of the image is just astounding and utterly perfect! I have never seen anything like it! You are a true professional and should pride yourself on the fact that all of your artwork, especially this piece, is amazing! c: Emma looks absolutely gorgeous and nothing less!
I thought that was a real picture at first! You must be really good to make it look like a photograph just using pencils! Did you use more than just like a standard hb or, well, what I mean is, what kinda pencils did you use?
